Early Detection Can Save Lives
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. At Derrimut Superclinic, we offer professional skin checks to help detect signs of skin cancer early, when treatment is most effective.
If you’ve noticed a new mole, a change in a freckle, or just want peace of mind, our experienced GPs are here to help. Skin checks are fully bulk billed for Medicare card holders. We welcome patients from Derrimut, Deer Park, Sunshine West, Ravenhall, and surrounding suburbs.
What Happens During a Skin Check
A skin cancer check is a painless, non-invasive examination performed by your GP. Using dermoscopy, we carefully check your skin from head to toe for any spots that might look unusual or suspicious.
During your skin check, we can:
- Examine any moles, freckles, or skin lesions you’re concerned about
- Identify early signs of melanoma or other types of skin cancer
- Take photographs or measurements for ongoing monitoring
- Recommend a biopsy or treatment if needed (fees apply, please refer to Private Fees page)
- Provide sun safety advice and prevention tips
If we find anything concerning, we’ll guide you through the next steps, whether that’s further investigation, minor surgery, or specialist referral.
When Should You Get Checked?
You should book a skin check if:
- You’ve noticed a new mole or spot
- A mole has changed in colour, shape, or size
- A spot is itchy, painful, bleeding, or not healing
- You’ve had significant sun exposure or sunburns in the past
- You have a family or personal history of skin cancer
- It’s been over 12 months since your last skin check
Even if you feel fine, a yearly skin check is one of the best things you can do for your long-term health. Many skin cancers can be treated successfully if caught early.
