What is MyMedicare

MyMedicare is a new government program that helps you get more out of your regular GP visits. It’s a free, voluntary system that links you directly to your usual doctor and clinic, like us here at Derrimut Superclinic.

By registering, you formalise your relationship with your GP, which helps your doctor understand you better and plan your care more effectively. In return, we can offer better continuity, easier follow-up, and access to extra Medicare-funded services.

This program is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to strengthening Medicare and ensuring all Australians can access quality, personalised healthcare.

More Support, Less Hassle

Registering with MyMedicare gives you access to a range of helpful benefits, especially if you see us regularly:

  • Longer funded telehealth calls with your usual GP
  • Bulk billed telehealth for children under 16 and concession card holders
  • Improved care planning for residents in aged care homes (from August 2024)
  • Bulk billed telehealth for children under 16 and concession card holders

You’ll also help us receive additional funding to continue offering high-quality care with no out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients.

MyMedicare is free and open to many

Check Your Eligibility

You can register for MyMedicare if you hold a valid Medicare or DVA Veteran card and:

  • You’ve visited Derrimut Superclinic for two or more in-person appointments in the past 24 months
  • Or just once if we’re your local clinic in a remote area
  • Or you are experiencing hardship (e.g. homelessness or family violence)

Children under 14 must be registered by a parent or guardian in person. Teens aged 14–17 can register and give consent themselves.

Choose what works best for you

Simple Ways to Register

There are three easy ways to register for MyMedicare:

  1. Online via MyGov
    Start in your Medicare Online Account or Express Plus Medicare app. Once submitted, our staff will approve it on our end.
  2. In-clinic assistance
    Ask our friendly team at reception, we can start the registration and guide you through the steps.
  3. Paper form
    Complete a registration form at the clinic. Once signed, we’ll handle the rest.
